SCC Dog Forever Home
I am sad to report that the "littlest" SCC Big Dog Park "regular" attendee passed away last night. She had always been pretty "independent", usually following the south side of the fence, eating dirt or grass at the park sometimes, nose in a hole, before joining those of us at the LDP pavilion. Penny had a strong sense of "self." She did not think of herself as a "little dog." Penny thought she fit right in with the big dogs there, and SHE DID! Going to the dog park was the highlight of her day, and she got to do it almost every day! It's hard for me to believe she's gone. It seems unreal...
Penny had joined my family at the dog park in 2012, after she was found in a Sun City resident's golfcart parked in their driveway at Valley Forge and Fordham. Someone had typed "I'm homeless, please adopt me" on a luggage tag attached to her collar. The owner of the Three-Legged Poodle, a SCC pet supply store, contacted SCC D.O.G. to foster her and find her a home. At our Small Dog Park, she felt she had a connection with me and was comfortable with Max, my other small lap dog. I named her "Penny" and she was added to my family. Took her to the vet to be "fixed." They guessed she was 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 years old then, so she would have been 14 or 15 years old now.
She enjoyed an active, happy, healthy life here at Sun City Center, getting along well with people and dogs. I'll see her at the Rainbow Bridge...
